Behind the Booth

When my husband and I bought my grandparents' home, and remaining 6 acres of their farm, it was a leap of faith in our ability to steward such a property - comprising 3 houses, 2 barns, a corn crib, milking parlor, and garage. The property was where I had spent my childhood summers, and was as much a part of me as my bones. To look after such a legacy takes committment in time and money. And so we began occassional tag sales in our backyard cottage to help. These were so successful that they evolved into monthly events filling barns, fields, and grounds. Today the monthly events include food trucks, cocktails, and lawn games. While I don't know how to farm, I do have a passion for the history we are preserving, and for decorating with all things vintage and antique. My booth, as well as those of our carefully juried fellow vendors, make up Chartreuse & co.

I hunt for those just right pieces that inspire me in England, France, Texas, and up and down the East Coast. I head to Market in Atlanta and NYC to ferret out those small and interesting companies that are bringing new, beautiful items onto the market - because I do not decorate with just vintage and antique. I decorate with everything that I find beautiful, comfortable, charming, and inviting. Those are the only things I buy: pieces I would happily put in my own home. In fact, the shopping and decorating for Chartreuse keeps me from compulsively redecorating my home multiple times a year!

The playful seasonal items, the comfortable upholstery, the room-defining structure pieces, and the inviting whimsy of all the details make a house a home. And that's what I create in my space here at Chartreuse & co.
