Behind the Booth

“When people look at my pictures, I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of poetry twice.”

I’ve been telling stories through the lens of my camera for more than 30 years. First as a young girl photographing the misty mountaintops and country roads of Appalachia, and later as a photojournalist in Washington, D.C.

After earning my degree in Broadcasting and Journalism, I spent a decade as part of the National Press Corps, working for C-SPAN and freelancing for CNN and FOX News. I covered current events at the White House, on Capitol Hill, and across the country.

Those years taught me much more than the technical side of photography. They taught me to watch—to notice the moments just before a story unfolds, and to be ready to capture them.

After moving to Naples in 1999, I continued photographing people and places. But as I watched Florida’s unprecedented growth begin to change the landscape I had come to love, my camera began to turn toward the past. I started photographing the places, details, and pieces of Old Florida that I wanted to remember. And then I began collecting them.

What started as a passion for Old Florida and, especially, Old Naples imagery eventually became The Curated Coast—a place where I can preserve the little pieces of the past whose stories deserve to continue. Here you’ll find vintage photography, shell art, wicker and rattan, coastal treasures, and an eclectic mix of things that speak to another Florida—a slower, more soulful Florida. Located within the Chesterdales Home & Garden showroom in Naples, The Curated Coast is a blend of photography, collecting, coastal living, and nostalgia.

Because some things are worth remembering; And some stories are worth keeping alive.
